I was the head coach of the Dalhousie Tigers men’s soccer program for 21 seasons (1999-2020). As the 2008-09 AUS and U SPORTS Coach of the Year, I led the Tigers to an AUS championship title that same season, their first since my inaugural season with the Tigers in 1999.
During my time at Dalhousie, my team accumulated a 156-97-81 all-time coaching record with a 48.9%-win record in AUS regular season games. With 17 appearances in the AUS playoffs, we won two AUS titles. I was named AUS coach of the year in 2008 and 2019, and Tigers coach of the year in 2008-09. I was also heavily involved in U SPORTS committees and organization.
I was honoured to be recognized for my contribution to inter-university sport in 2020, receiving U SPORTS’ Austin-Matthews Award.
In addition to my 20 years of AUS coaching experience at Dalhousie, I had 18 years of college and senior coaching experience. As coach with Technical University of Nova Scotia, the men’s soccer team won six ACAA championship titles. While coaching the Dartmouth United Mooseheads senior men’s coach for more than 10 seasons, we won four NSSL Premier Division championship titles and two Canadian Soccer Association Atlantic championship wins. The Mooseheads also earned a fourth-place finish at the Canadian Soccer Association National Senior Club championship and a silver medal from the Canadian Soccer Association National Senior Challenge Cup.
I retired from Dalhousie’s Department of Athletics and Recreation, Associate Director’s position in 2021. I remain connected to USPORTS as the Chair of the National Technical Committee for University Men’s Soccer.
I have lived in Bedford for the past 35 years with my wife Nancy (Collins) and two sons James and Michael.
