Dalhousie Board of Governors Approves New Rink and Physiotherapy Clinic

ADRP members may be interested to know that Dalhousie’s Board of Governors has voted in favour of building a new Dalhousie Event Centre on campus.

The following is an excerpt from the official announcement by Athletic Director, Tim Maloney:

The Dalhousie Event Centre will provide an on-campus home for student ice-related programming (intramurals and clubs), varsity athletics, and the broader Dal community. Featuring an NHL-sized ice sheet with an alternate floor surface, a state-of-the-art physiotherapy clinic and event spaces with catering capabilities, the centre will be a dynamic and inclusive space for Dalhousie and the greater Halifax community.

[The project is] still in the development phase, design plans will be developed in the coming months to be issued for an external design-build competition with an initial targeted opening date in the fall of 2023.

  1. This is very exciting news. It has been a long time since there has been an on-campus rink and going to a game at the Forum is not the same or does it attract students spectators as was always the case on-campus. It will enhance student life. Eureka!
